Overview

University of Arkansas Grantham is seeking a REMOTE Financial Aid Specialist. This is a non‑supervisory role that works with the Student Account Specialist to complete financial aid processing and meet service and quality expectations for students. The position is remote and the institution offers a flexible work environment with a benefits package. Responsibilities
  • The Financial Aid Specialist (FAS) provides front‑line support in the student funding process and works collaboratively with the Student Accounts Office to complete financial aid processing and meet service and quality expectations for students.
  • Advise students on various forms in the financial aid process, including Federal financial aid.
  • Counsel students to determine financial aid needs/options and explain students’ rights and responsibilities for each aid source.
  • Conduct outreach to assist students with completion and submission of required forms and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accrediting agency regulations pertaining to student enrollment, Federal Student Aid, Veterans Administration and Department of Defense benefit eligibility.
  • Coordinate with the Student Accounts Office to resolve conflicting information and ensure proper and timely disbursements of funds to students.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Note: This position is remote and requires eligibility to work in the listed states.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Work Experience:

  • Preferred 2+ years of customer service experience
  • Experience with the administration of Federal Student Aid, VA and TA funds preferred
  • Experience working in a remote environment preferred

Skills:

  • Effective oral and written communication
  • Experience using financial aid software and relevant systems (e.g., Student Information System, NSLDS, COD, VAOnce, EdConnect)
  • Strong analytical skills and professional customer service abilities
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common journals and legal documents; ability to respond to inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, or staff; ability to present information to management, faculty, staff, and students
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts (fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions) to practical situations
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Physical demands: keyboard use, communication via telephone; occasional walking/standing; some desk time; vision requirements
