Job Duties
Caldwell University invites applications for a full-time Financial Aid Counselor, Loan Coordinator. Reporting to the Director of Financial Aid, the Counselor is responsible for preparing financial aid applications, for providing information and counseling to students and parents regarding financial aid procedures. Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Overall responsibility for the federal Direct Loan and private Alternative Loan programs. Acting as a liaison with the Department of Education, review of loan reconciliations, contacts with bursar and accounting office. Assist with Pell grant program management
- Preparing and communicating financial aid packages to students through mail and/or electronic notification. Contacting students and families to get information such as income tax information, referral letters, and verification worksheets to complete student files for edit and verification purposes.
- Remaining current on Federal, State, and institutional regulations pertaining to the awarding of financial aid by attending workshops, conferences, and seminars, and by reading all related materials.
- Counseling students and families regarding financial aid programs, awards and sources of tuition financing.
- Presenting to Parents and Students at Information sessions

Bachelor’s degree plus one to two years of effective experience is required. Experience using Microsoft Excel is a plus. Knowledge of Powerfaids and/or Jenzabar computer systems is extremely desirable.
