Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts is a leading California private healthcare college offering an extensive variety of nursing and allied healthcare programs such as: Vocational Nurse, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN pathway), Medical Assistant, Dental Assistant, and Associate of Science in Physical Therapist Assistant, Ultrasound Technology, MRI, Radiologic Technology, and Bachelor of Science in Diagnostic Medical Imaging.

We are currently seeking a Financial Aid Advisor, Full-time. This is an Online/Remote position for Gurnick Academy Corporate Office.

Overview:

The Financial Aid Advisor is responsible for assisting students in their application for Financial Assistance to attend Gurnick. Responsibilities include performing qualifying interviews, assisting in the completion of the FASFA, advising students on the availability of FASFA on the web, entering FASFA information into the USDOE system when necessary, and tracking, receiving, and auditing student ISIRs. The FAA clears ISIR comment codes, collects verification documentation, and manages student FA files for completeness and accuracy.

The FAA assists students in applying for additional funding, including CAL Grant programs, program-specific assistance (such as nursing or ultrasound), scholarships, grants, VA, voc rehab, and others. Responsibilities also include packaging student assistance awards, scheduling awards in the Gurnick tracking systems, and updating information during repackaging, crossover award year reapplications, and student exit interviews.

The FAA may perform Tuition Adjustment Calculations and Return to Title IV (R2TIV) funds calculations for students withdrawing or beginning a LOA. The FAA calculates unfunded balances for students and sets up approved arrangements to handle these balances.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct qualifying interviews with students to determine the necessities of the application process.
  • Assist students in the timely completion of the FASFA on the Web.
  • Enter the FASFA into the EDE system when necessary.
  • Utilize the Student Tracking Form to track the application process.
  • Assist in applying for additional non-Title IV funds.
  • Analyze need and prepare award packages; ensure that awards do not exceed calculated need as demonstrated on the Budget/Packaging form.
  • Make satisfactory arrangements with students for any calculated unfunded balance.
  • Audit ISIRs for correct application information.
  • Complete timely verification on selected ISIRs.
  • Clear any “C” Comment Codes on all selected ISIRs.
  • Ensure crossover award year packaging is completed.
  • Ensure that students awarded Federal Student Loan Funds have Entrance Counseling performed and documented.
  • Enter, edit, and update student scheduled aid in Gurnick tracking systems.
  • Calculate Return to Title IV for withdrawing and LOA students.
  • Calculate Tuition Adjustment calculations for withdrawing and LOA students.
  • Conduct exit interviews with all graduating, LOA, and withdrawing students.
  • Maintain Student FA Files in both hard copy and electronic formats according to policies.
  • Assist in Registrar functions of campuses.
  • Assist in the collections of unfunded balance payments.
  • Assist in yearly compliance audits and program reviews.
  • Additional duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Significant experience in the processing of federal or state student assistance programs.
  • A minimum of one year of Financial Aid Experience is required (2 Years Preferred).

Job Type: Full-time

Hourly Pay Range: $19.80 – $29.15 per hour (The pay is dependent on the region in the United States)
