Job summary

The Financial Advisor I provides financial advice to clients based on knowledge of investment and tax strategies, securities, insurance, pension plans, and real estate. They may assist the Branch Manager (BM) and/or other Financial Advisors (FA) in the establishment and maintenance of accounts that are current to prospective clients and, within their level of experience, licensing and registration, handle routine transactions and account relationships while supporting the assigned BM and/or FAs. They provide the highest quality of service to every customer.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Meet with clients to gather, discuss, and assess personal financial information such as current income, expenses, insurance coverage, tax status, financial goals and objectives, assets, liabilities, risk tolerance, and other information necessary for financial planning.
  2. Based on analysis of personal financial data, develop strategies and plans to help clients meet financial goals.
  3. Monitor plan performance for clients; realign and redistribute funds to maintain objectives.
  4. Maintain knowledge of new and emerging investment trends and opportunities.
  5. Support assigned BM and/or FAs by reviewing and submitting account paperwork to Broker/Dealer and/or annuity and mutual fund companies for processing and creating client files.
  6. Maintain appropriate records as required for all transactions and follow through to confirm all elements of a transaction are successfully implemented.
  7. Answer telephone calls and respond to customer requests and service issues. Research customer account issues including account errors, name and address changes, dividend payment modes, and status of securities.
  8. Assist BM and/or FAs with coordination of business plan elements for prospecting to secure new clients such as coordinating strategic partner seminars or branch meetings and regular and consistent communications such as direct mail campaigns and scheduling review meetings to help retain existing clients.
  9. Perform clerical duties including typing of general correspondence, making copies, ordering supplies, filing and other special assignments, and projects.
  10. Build additional skills and knowledge in the industry including obtaining additional licenses and certifications as appropriate.
  11. Complete continuing education as required by professional designations, and to meet licensing and regulatory requirements and/or participate in elective industry related seminars and conferences or other training, as assigned, within the expected timeframes.
  12. Refer clients to other bank services.
  13. Understand, report, respond to, manage, and monitor the risk encountered daily as required by First Community Bank’s Risk Management Program.
  14. Ensure compliance with regulatory laws and Company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent education and work related experience
  • Two years of related experience preferred
  • License to sell at least one financial product (Series 6, Series 7, Series 63 and Series 65, state insurance license, etc.) preferred
  • Additional professional designations preferred: CFP® or similar certification
  • Extensive knowledge of financial markets and investment strategies
