Location: Washington, D.C.

Base Salary Range: $95k - $150k/annually, depending on experience.
About the Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly analytical, client-focused, experienced Financial Advisor to join a growing wealth management and tax firm in Washington, D.C.! This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced financial professional who enjoys working directly with high-net-worth individual clients and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team across investment management, tax planning, estate planning, risk management, retirement planning, and comprehensive financial planning. The Financial Advisor will play a key role in managing day-to-day client relationships and priorities while partnering with Lead Advisors, Associate Advisors, Analysts, and Internal Specialists to deliver sophisticated, highly personalized wealth management experiences. This position is ideal for a CFP®, CPA, CFA, or JD with strong financial advisory, consulting, and planning expertise, exceptional client communication skills, and experience advising high-net-worth individuals, families, and their closely held businesses.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for client communications and relationship management.
  • Partner with Lead Advisors to develop timely, thorough, and strategic responses to client needs.
  • Review client portfolios and financial circumstances and provide recommendations in collaboration with the advisory team.
  • Proactively identify strategic and tactical opportunities related to investments and comprehensive financial planning.
  • Analyze client data and evaluate potential planning strategies based on each client's unique circumstances and objectives.
  • Develop financial analyses and spreadsheet models involving sophisticated planning topics such as tax-loss harvesting, stock options, restricted stock, wealth transfer strategies, and risk management.
  • Review, approve, and coordinate investment trades and portfolio rebalancing activities.
  • Maintain accurate client records, cost basis information, position data, and related documentation within portfolio management systems.
  • Prepare for, attend, and lead client meetings while ensuring timely completion of all post-meeting action items.
  • Develop client meeting agendas and determine the appropriate deliverables and recommendations to present.
  • Collaborate with Lead Advisors to define client strategies and determine the most effective approach for communicating recommendations.
  • Prepare and finalize financial planning and wealth management deliverables, including cash flow and cash needs analyses, strategic asset allocation, and financial independence/lifestyle planning analyses.
  • Partner with internal specialists in Investment Management, Tax, Estate Planning, Risk Management, Retirement Planning, and other areas to address complex client needs.
  • Coordinate with Tax, Investment, and Estate Planning professionals to determine the appropriate level of analysis and recommendations for each client.
  • Following client approval, coordinate with the broader team to ensure implementation activities are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Partner with Associate Advisors and other team members to execute time-sensitive client requests, including trades, wire transfers, journals, and other account-related activities.
  • Initiate, review, approve, and monitor time-sensitive transactions to ensure completion within established service standards.
  • Maintain accurate client action items and communications within the CRM.
  • Maintain client planning and wealth management scorecards, ensuring planning topics, status, scores, and review dates remain accurate and current.
  • Present complex financial planning concepts and recommendations in a clear, organized, and compelling manner.
  • Serve as a resource and mentor to team members on complex financial planning topics and strategic client service practices.
  • Seek opportunities to contribute to team initiatives, firm projects, and leadership assignments.
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited University.
  • Must hold one of the following professional credentials: CFP®, CPA, CFA, or JD.
  • 4+ years of professional experience in financial advisory, financial planning, wealth management, tax, or a related financial services environment.
  • 4+ years of experience working directly with high-net-worth individuals with assets exceeding $3M, their families, and their closely held businesses.
  • Strong knowledge of comprehensive financial planning and the ability to evaluate complex client financial situations.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and related productivity tools.
  • Strong analytical, financial modeling, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple client relationships and competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within a team-based environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and a high degree of personal integrity.
  • Ability to independently manage workload, communications, deadlines, and ownership of assigned responsibilities.
  • Ability to learn and effectively utilize financial planning, portfolio management, CRM, and other technology platforms.
  • Professional, polished, and trustworthy presence when interacting with clients and colleagues.

  • $95,000 – $150,000 annual base salary, depending on experience
