Magellan Financial & Insurance Services, Inc. is seeking a retirement-focused financial advisor in the Portland area. You will meet with households to untangle retirement decisions and present clear recommendations.
This role centers on education and relationship building, using seminars and workshops to introduce prospects and guiding the funded relationship across income, investments, taxes, Social Security, estate coordination, insurance, and annuities.
Somewhere along the way, "financial advisor" became a prospecting job with advice attached.
Look at your calendar this week. How many hours go to finding people to talk to — cold lists, networking events, chasing referrals — and how many go to the work you actually trained for: sitting across from a household, untangling a real retirement problem, and guiding a decision that matters?
We built Asset Preservation Wealth & Tax to flip that ratio. For more than two decades, we've grown a retirement-planning business on education. Our seminars, workshops, and The Asset Preservation Hour reach pre-retirees and retirees long before they ever meet an advisor, so by the time someone sits down with you, they already understand why the conversation is worth having. Your week starts where most advisors wish theirs did: in the meeting.
And the meeting is the whole point of this role. You'll lead discovery with people approaching or living in retirement, connect the decisions that actually determine whether their plan works — income, investments, taxes, Social Security, estate coordination, insurance, and annuities — then present a clear recommendation in plain English and ask for the relationship when the fit is right. This isn't portfolio management in isolation, and it isn't a single-product pitch. It's complete retirement planning with a commercial spine. Investment advisory services along with planning, tax, estate, and operational resources around you so the work you close gets implemented well.
You don't need a portable book. You don't need to recreate an independent practice inside ours. What you need is proof you can take a household from first conversation to funded relationship — and the judgment to recommend what's right for the client, including recommending against a product when it doesn't fit.
If that's you, you're probably good at what you do and busy doing too little of it. This is the Portland and Lake Oswego market, an established public presence, and a firm that treats advisor time as the scarce resource it is.
