Job Summary

To follow the six steps of financial planning in executing the role of a FAIS licensed financial adviser. The adviser must introduce themselves professionally and explain the services offered. Upon client approval, conduct a Financial Needs Analysis (FNA) in Investment, Life Insurance, and Estate Planning. Based on the FNA, make recommendations to address identified needs, ensuring advice is presented under the relevant license categories for which the adviser is accredited. Implement accepted advice through Absa’s processes, and conduct regular reviews to ensure continued suitability and address new needs. Maintain ongoing Fit and Proper status to offer services under an Absa advice license.

Job Description

Accountability: Establish and maintain professional relationships with all stakeholders (Clients, Bank personnel, product providers, and Adviser Support staff).

  • Participate in lead activities and sales meetings to identify new or repeat business opportunities, utilizing Absa’s bancassurance structure.
  • Assess client needs using recommended analysis tools, ensuring clients understand the full value proposition.
  • Prepare recommendations and quotes for suitable risk and investment solutions based on client needs and profile.
  • Present recommendations to clients, adhering to FAIS regulations.
  • Follow the designated client engagement process as specified by Absa Advisers.
  • Provide regular feedback to the Regional Manager on lead progression.
  • Network with stakeholders in Banking and attend meetings to promote the value proposition.

Accountability: Meet sales and growth targets.

  • Plan activities to approach clients, using provided leads and own prospecting.
  • Use Absa’s Financial Needs Analysis tool (Avalon from August 2024) to conduct analyses.
  • Obtain client consent for policy information access.
  • Discuss solutions and recommend appropriate products.
  • Generate formal recommendations and product quotes.
  • Complete necessary application forms upon client acceptance.
  • Gather all compliance documentation and submit proposals for processing.
  • Review client portfolios annually and maintain relationships.
  • Report on conversion rates and seek external business opportunities.

Accountability: Manage own commission earnings.

  • Ensure correct Policy Relevant Information (PRI) entry.
  • Verify commission statements monthly for accuracy.
  • Keep client database updated and follow up on premiums and lapses.

Accountability: Practice Management.

  • Ensure staff understand their roles and receive relevant training.
  • Provide coaching and participate in performance discussions.
  • Maintain compliant record-keeping and system maintenance.
  • Complete compliance exams timely and remain fit and proper.
  • Provide feedback on non-interest income and cross-selling opportunities.
  • Segment clients and engage in business development strategies.

  • Attend training to attain and maintain accreditation and FAIS credits.
Education

Bachelor's Degrees and Diplomas in Accounting, or equivalent, or Grade 12.
