Gallagher Benefit Services is seeking an Employee Benefits Underwriter in New York. You will guide account teams and clients using financial tools, analyze carrier data, negotiate rates, and present reports.

The role supports underwriting policies and industry insights across client engagements. Required: Bachelor's degree and 3 years in employee benefits underwriting; proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office; advanced Excel skills preferred.

How You’ll Make An Impact

Primary focus of role to provide guidance and assistance to account teams and clients by using financial decision making tools, conducting client facing meetings when appropriate, and to speak effectively on behalf of the underwriting team regarding core services. Key responsibilities include; analyzing data from carriers on clients and providing recommendations to account management teams or to clients in order to effectively negotiate rates and funding levels, evaluating and presenting monthly, quarterly and annual reports that measure client financial status, track expenses by product line, renewal projections, funding levels and rates, etc. to the Account management teams and to clients when necessary, and evaluating, assigning, monitoring and peer review reports generated by underwriting team subordinates. Assists in the preparation of presentations, campaigns, communication materials, newsletters, etc. to internal staff and clients / prospects regarding underwriting policies and scope of services. Acts as a resource regarding industry trends and technologies for account service and consulting, new sales, and additional sales to existing clients.

About You

Required: Bachelor's degree and 3 years within employee benefits field in an underwriting capacity. Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications and Microsoft Office. Preferred: Advanced Excel Skills. Math or Finance degree preferred. Behaviors: Detail oriented; strong analytical skills and good communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to multi-task to meet deadlines with quality and accurate deliverables. Must maintain favorable relationships with clients, vendors and other office staff.
