Job summary

City of Springfield (MO) is seeking an Accounting Technician to support the Springfield-Greene County Parks Department’s financial services, focusing on accounts receivable and payables, grant tracking and reporting, and administration of the Parks Youth Scholarship fund.

This role ensures accurate budgeting data, prepares detailed worksheets, and coordinates with City financial systems and department-specific tools to provide clear internal and external summaries.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required with accounting coursework.
• Minimum 1 year of accounting experience; or 3 years with alternative education.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical mindset for detailed spreadsheet work.

Responsibilities

• Handle accounts receivable and accounts payable processes.
• Track and report grants and administer the Parks Youth Scholarship fund.
• Prepare budget data and spreadsheets for the school park section and other areas.
• Assist in preparation of summaries for internal and external reporting from financial data.
• Support external audits with working papers and reconciliations.
