Job summary

AMD is seeking a Manager, Financial Accounting to join our Corporate Reporting team in Santa Clara, California. You will drive the preparation and review of AMD’s management reporting, maintaining strong controls to ensure the financial information that reaches executive leadership, the Board of Directors, and external stakeholders is accurate, complete, and of the highest quality.

Qualifications

  • Progressive accounting experience in public accounting or industry roles.
  • Strong US GAAP knowledge and SEC rules familiarity.
  • CPA certification or equivalent required; Big 4 experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review internal financial reporting for executive leadership, the CFO organization, and the Audit Committee
  • Support materials for earnings releases, SEC filings, investor presentations, and corporate messaging
  • Partner closely with Investor Relations, Legal, Corporate Communications, and Finance to ensure reporting and messaging are accurate, timely, and consistent
  • Analyze financial results to develop insights that assist leadership with decision-making and shape internal and external communications
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot data discrepancies and errors to help ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting
  • Drive continuous process improvement through the adoption of AI, advanced analytics, and automation to scale AMD’s accounting and reporting processes and strengthen the quality and timeliness of financial reporting
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional accounting and reporting projects, including system implementations, automation initiatives, and process standardization efforts, while managing ad hoc initiatives and competing priorities with a strong sense of urgency
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) framework; design, execute, and document key controls within areas of responsibility

THE ROLE:

AMD is seeking a Manager, Financial Accounting to join our Corporate Reporting team in Santa Clara, California. You will drive the preparation and review of AMD’s management reporting, maintaining strong controls to ensure the financial information that reaches executive leadership, the Board of Directors, and external stakeholders is accurate, complete, and of the highest quality. You will perform financial analysis of AMD’s results to develop the insights that shape how AMD’s performance is communicated to executive leadership, the Board of Directors, and external stakeholders, enabling leadership to make decisions effectively and efficiently.

You will work closely with leaders across the CFO organization, partnering with Finance, Legal, Investor Relations, and Corporate Communications and you will lead and contribute to cross-functional projects with strong visibility to AMD’s executive team. You will also champion continuous process improvement - through AI adoption, advanced analytics, and automation - to scale AMD’s accounting and reporting processes. This is a high-visibility position within a fast-moving, global semiconductor company

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prepare and review internal financial reporting materials for executive leadership, the CFO organization, and the Audit Committee
  • Support the preparation of materials used for internal and external communications, including earnings releases, SEC filings, investor presentations, and corporate messaging
  • Partner closely with Investor Relations, Legal, Corporate Communications, and Finance to ensure reporting and messaging are accurate, timely, and consistent
  • Analyze financial results to develop insights that assist leadership with decision-making and shape internal and external communications
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot data discrepancies and errors to help ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting
  • Drive continuous process improvement through the adoption of AI, advanced analytics, and automation to scale AMD’s accounting and reporting processes and strengthen the quality and timeliness of financial reporting
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional accounting and reporting projects, including system implementations, automation initiatives, and process standardization efforts, while managing ad hoc initiatives and competing priorities with a strong sense of urgency
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) framework; design, execute, and document key controls within areas of responsibility
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Demonstrated, progressive accounting experience across public accounting and/or industry roles; experience in business analytics or financial planning & analysis (FP&A) a plus
  • Extensive knowledge of US GAAP and strong working knowledge of SEC rules and regulations
  • Prior Big 4 or equivalent accounting experience
  • Experience supporting large, global, technology-driven environments (semiconductor, hardware, or complex manufacturing a plus)
  • Strong aptitude for information technology and digital tools to enhance the reporting process
  • Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams, exercise professional judgment, and influence cross-functional partners in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Track record of leading process improvement or automation initiatives
  • Experience with financial systems (e.g., SAP) a plus
  • Experience with data visualization tools a plus
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • CPA certification required (or equivalent)
