Job summary

San Francisco-Marin Food Bank is seeking a Finance Transformation Manager to lead enterprise finance transformation initiatives, evaluating business needs and driving system and process improvements for accounting systems. This role combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution across Finance, Programs, Supply Chain, Development, and Data & Technology teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 5–8+ years of experience in finance systems, accounting operations, project management, or finance transformation.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one ERP or fund accounting platform (such as Ceres, Microsoft NAV, Business Central, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Workday, SAP, or similar).
  • Experience leading complex system and process implementations, upgrades, or workflow transformation projects with cross-functional impact.
  • Proven ability to independently lead complex projects from requirements gathering through implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the project manager for core financial systems discovery, software selection, enhancements, & implementations related to the ERP.
  • Drive integrations between the ERP and adjacent platforms, ensuring performance, data integrity, and compliance.
  • Own the implementation, coordinate stakeholders, manage timelines, and personally perform configuration/build work.
  • Oversee upgrades, migrations, and testing to maintain system reliability and business continuity.
  • Help to drive the overall scalability, efficiency and automation of accounting systems and operational processes.
  • Identify accounting process inefficiencies and design system-based solutions automated workflows, and AI-enabled processes that improve visibility and reduce manual effort.
  • Partner across departments to gather requirements, evaluate solutions, and translate business needs into improved processes and accounting system functionality.
  • Assess the current ERP and potential new ERP systems. Lead the roadmap, design, and continuous improvement of finance systems and related business processes.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, including AI-enabled solutions, and recommend adoption strategies based on operational impact, governance, risk, cost, organizational readiness, and long-term business value.
  • Lead implementations, upgrades, enhancements, and integrations, including documenting and maintaining process flows and user resources.

The Finance Transformation Manager will lead enterprise finance transformation initiatives by evaluating business needs, recommending solutions, establishing project priorities, and driving implementation of system and process improvements related to accounting systems and processes. This role combines independent strategic thinking with hands‑on execution, partnering across Finance, Programs, Supply Chain, Development and Data & Technology teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions that improve operational efficiency and adjust dynamically to changes in our Programs. As an experienced professional, you’ll tackle complex problems, use data to drive decisions, and ensure our systems scale to support growing community impact. This position is fixed term, anticipated to end June 2029.

Together with more than 250+ community partners, we work to address hunger head‑on through a coordinated network of neighborhood food pantries, CalFresh enrollment, home‑delivered groceries, and policy and advocacy efforts. We work with our community to provide food for people facing hunger today while working to end the hunger of tomorrow. This fiscal year, we are serving 42,000 households per week. What You Would Be Accountable for:

The Finance Transformation Manager is accountable for the following key pieces of work:

What Else You Should Know:
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 5–8+ years of experience in finance systems, accounting operations, project management, or finance transformation.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with at least one ERP or fund accounting platform (such as Ceres, Microsoft NAV, Business Central, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Workday, SAP, or similar).
  • Experience leading complex system and process implementations, upgrades, or workflow transformation projects with cross-functional impact.
  • Proven ability to independently lead complex projects from requirements gathering through implementation.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience in a nonprofit, social impact, or public‑sector environment.
  • Experience supporting grant and donor‑restricted fund reporting or fund accounting software.
  • Knowledge of SQL.
  • Experience evaluating or implementing AI‑enabled business process automation, intelligent workflow solutions, or agentic AI tools within finance, operations, or enterprise systems environments.
  • Familiarity with AI governance, data quality considerations, and responsible use of AI in business processes.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft NAV, Ceres, procurement, inventory, or supply chain finance workflows.
KEY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
  • Strong reporting, data analysis, and problem‑solving skills, including intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate across departments and levels of the organization.
  • Working knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles, including functional allocation of expenses, fund accounting, and related internal controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently analyze complex business processes, develop strategic recommendations, and influence organizational decision‑making through technology‑enabled solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and drive projects to successful completion.
  • Exercises independent judgment in evaluating business processes, recommending solutions, prioritizing work, determining implementation approaches, and advising finance leadership regarding systems and operational improvements.

SALARY

The position is full-time. The starting salary for this position ranges from $125,000-$135,000, with exact salary depending on experience.
