Job summary

NACBA is seeking an Accounting Technician to join our district treasury and business services team in Washington. The role focuses on day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, and tax reporting, with emphasis on accuracy and compliance.

Ideal candidates bring at least two years of relevant experience and an associate degree in accounting or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in payroll, accounts payable or accounting.

Responsibilities

• Processes accounts payable according to established district procedures; maintains contact with vendors; resolves related issues.
• Processes affidavits/requests for warrant replacement and warrant cancellations.
• Processes accounts receivable including billings, payments, reconciliation, aging, and collections.
• Uploads daily payment transactions and reconciles to bank deposits for cash and credit cards.
• Maintains, supports and provides training on the District’s cash receipting system.
• Coordinates annual user fees for Board approval and prepares monthly revenue tax reports and payments.
• Maintains current knowledge of sales tax, excise tax and compensating tax regulations.
• Creates annual federal tax reports (1099s) for vendors.
• Monitors and submits unclaimed property to the Department of Revenue.
