Job summary

NWU is seeking motivated students in Auburn, Alabama, for a finance/ accounting internship. You will support the finance team through daily tasks, month-end close, forecasts, and ad hoc analyses while gaining exposure to internal controls and process improvements.

The role emphasizes collaboration, strong MS Office skills, and the ability to balance work with coursework. Preference given to those with prior internship experience and a demonstrated interest in automotive technologies.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline from an accredited college/university.
• Ability to work 24 hours per week year-round, balancing work with class schedules.
• Currently a Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior at the time of hire.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Preferred: Previous internship or accounting/finance related work experience.
• Good working knowledge of accounting principles, methods, and techniques.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interest in the automotive industry and new technologies.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills to collaborate across organizational levels and with external partners.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, multitask, and achieve goals in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven leadership in academic pursuits, extracurricular activities, or service organizations.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with finance professionals to complete projects and daily activities supporting the finance department.
• Provide accounting or finance support to operating and finance teams.
• Support monthly close or forecast activities as required.
• Maintain compliance with internal controls within the assigned area.
• Perform analysis, reporting, and studies as needed.
• Complete ad hoc assignments as requested by the team.
• Engage in continuous process improvements and project management.
