Town of Purcellville (VA) is seeking a Finance Specialist to perform intermediate accounting tasks including billing, collections, cashiering, and customer service under supervision.

The Finance Specialist performs intermediate technical work, performing a variety of billing, collection, cashiering, and customer service activities, and related work as assigned. Work performed under the moderate supervision of the Assistant Director of Finance.

General knowledge of accounting terminology, methods, procedures, and equipment; general knowledge of standard office procedures, practices, and equipment; general knowledge of office procedures, practices, and equipment; general knowledge of business English, spelling and arithmetic; general knowledge of cash-handling and general ledger account reconciliation; ability to understand and follow oral and written directions; ability to operate personal computer including some knowledge of applicable software packages; ability to follow work procedures; ability to post accounts and to perform mathematical computations with speed and accuracy; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, public and legal officials, and the general public.This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel and occasionally requires walking and repetitive motions; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data; work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
