Description of Work

The Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources Business Centers are a cohesive team that provide professional service, efficient resource management, and effective solution development with integrity, accountability and focus on the customer.

This position is located on UNL’s East Campus.

Responsibilities
  • Serve in a consultative role and be responsible for providing finance support in a timely and accurate manner and in compliance with all applicable institutional, UNL , State, and Federal regulations, policies, and guidelines.
  • Execute and review routine and complex finance transactions.
  • Work closely with employees within the departments served, as well as functional office staff, providing a high level of customer service and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Function under limited supervision and be expected to utilize technology to provide professional services.

Following an initial training period of up to six months, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with a minimum of 3 days per week worked on site. Hybrid arrangements are subject to supervisor approval and are determined based on operational needs.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of related finance work experience; additional relevant education or experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
  • Experience with SAP or large integrated finance system.
  • A willingness and demonstrated ability to learn new hardware and software systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality in compliance with rules and regulations, including HIPAA and FERPA guidelines on disclosure of information.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships within and outside of reporting lines.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience performing project or cost accounting.
  • Experience conducting training.
  • Experience serving multiple units as part of a service team.
  • Experience performing finance tasks at a University of Nebraska institution preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws and guidelines related to business practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor others.

  • Pre-Placement Driving Record Review Required: No
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required. Subject to DOT approved pre-employment & random testing for alcohol and controlled substances.
