The Finance Specialist is responsible for supporting the operational decision-making of a site, business unit, or function. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, supports the month-end closing process, and provides value-added analysis on performance metrics, costs, and forecasts to management. The Specialist applies in-depth knowledge of accounting principles within established professional standards.

Detailed Description (Key Responsibilities)
  • Perform monthly and quarterly closing activities, including preparing and posting accruals and other accounting journals.
  • Complete balance sheet account reconciliations with supporting analysis and variance explanations.
  • Assist in the preparation of internal management reports and external corporate/statutory compliance reporting.
  • Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A):
  • Prepare financial analysis related to inventory, costs, labor, profit maximization, and expense targets.
  • Provide product cost analysis and pricing support, including material standard cost analysis and updates in the ERP system (e.g., SAP).
  • Support the annual planning and forecasting processes by gathering, analyzing, and presenting data.
  • Process and Compliance:
  • Maintain financial security by monitoring and enforcing internal controls (e.g., SOX compliance) and process documentation.
  • Liaise with external auditors during quarterly and annual audits.
  • Assist in problem-solving and provide advisory support on accounting and business processes to other operational departments.
  • Projects & Teamwork:
  • Complete ad-hoc projects as assigned, often involving cross-functional or customer teams.
  • Drive and recommend process improvements, automation, and system enhancements.
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies
  • Technical Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) (e.g., US GAAP) and local statutory requirements.
  • Proficiency in GL Accounting and financial planning/analysis.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Hyperion, SmartView) is highly desirable.
Typical Experience
  • 3 to 6 years of relevant experience in Accounting, Finance, or a related role. Experience in a manufacturing or Multinational Corporation (MNC) environment is often required.
Typical Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field. Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience. Enrollment in or completion of an accounting designation (e.g., CPA) is often preferred or a strong plus.
Physical Demands
  • Duties are performed primarily in a normal office environment.
  • May require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or detailed data.
  • Repetitive manual movements are frequently required (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator).
