The School District of Lee County is seeking an Assistant Director, Financial Accounting and Property Records to lead district-wide accounting procedures, manage fixed assets, and coordinate external audits from Fort Myers, Florida. This role ensures accurate financial reporting and robust internal controls across schools and sites.

Ideal candidates hold a bachelor’s in accounting or finance with extensive fund accounting experience and GAAP/GASB knowledge; a master’s degree and public district

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Six years of experience in fund accounting, government financial reporting, and audit preparation.
• Experience with financial management systems and accounting software.
• Knowledge of GAAP and GASB standards.

Responsabilités

• Develop, implement, and maintain accounting procedures and internal control systems.
• Inspect operations to improve procedures and support to schools and locations.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
• Coordinate and assist with annual district audit and respond to external auditors.
• Monitor balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies.
• Ensure timely posting of all financial transactions and period closes.
• Manage district cash flows to ensure adequate funds for operations.
• Oversee funding needs through investments, COPS, and bond issuances.
• Ensure proper accounting and allocation of fixed assets and property records.
• Lead meetings, present proposals, and provide guidance to departments and sites.
• Provide training on accounting policies, procedures, and systems.
• Participate in financial system upgrades and data integrity reviews.
