Job description

GTSC is a dynamic government contracting firm offering IT, consulting, and engineering services directly to the federal government and prime contractors. Our staff are experts in IT and support services for the veteran community.

We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Project Controller to join our Finance team at our Chantilly, Virginia headquarters. This full-time role reports directly to the Sr. Corporate Controller.

The Project Controller will oversee all aspects of project control, working closely with stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and compliant with contractual and regulatory requirements. The role involves supporting project planning, forecasting, and risk management in coordination with Operations and Finance.

This position is full-time, with a hybrid work arrangement after a 90-day probation period, requiring three days on-site and two days remote per week.

Requirements:
  • Monitor and report on project financial performance.
  • Reconcile actual versus budgeted costs monthly and identify variances.
  • Track hours and costs for employees and subcontractors.
  • Ensure funding availability and support timely funding requests.
  • Review government invoices for accuracy.
  • Track and report project costs, revenues, and margins.
  • Analyze and communicate project financial and operational performance.
  • Identify and mitigate risks and issues.
  • Support audits and compliance reviews.
  • Guide and train project teams on financial matters.

Additional responsibilities include developing financial metrics, reviewing project costs weekly, managing expense reclassification, interacting with project managers on discrepancies, monitoring funding backlogs, and analyzing historical data for planning.

Assist with EVMS activities such as WBS alignment, performance measurement, and variance analysis.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
  • 10+ years' experience with a federal government contractor.
  • Strong understanding of contract types, FAR regulations, and compliance.
  • Experience in personnel management and communication.
  • Process improvement skills.
  • Ability to present to senior leadership.
  • Proficiency with Unanet or Deltek CostPoint.
  • Experience with planning/forecasting modules in DCAA-compliant software.
  • Knowledge of government cost accounting standards.
  • Ability to produce detailed financial reports and manage multiple reporting tools.
  • Collaborative team player with attention to detail.
