Finance Product Manager, Financial Systems

Job Description We are seeking an experienced Finance Product Manager to support a portfolio of financial systems and technology initiatives. The role involves serving as the bridge between Finance, business stakeholders, IT, and project teams. You will translate business needs into technology solutions and drive initiatives from requirements through implementation and adoption. The ideal candidate combines finance/business process knowledge, financial systems experience, product management, and project leadership. This is a highly collaborative, hands‑on role requiring ownership and proactive initiative management. Responsibilities

• Gather, evaluate, and document business requirements for financial systems initiatives.
• Develop a strong understanding of underlying finance business processes and supporting technologies.
• Document application dependencies, process dependencies, cross-functional impacts, and affected systems.
• Facilitate stakeholder interviews, discovery sessions, and requirements workshops across Finance, IT, and other business functions.
• Translate business needs into clearly defined requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and high‑level solution recommendations.
• Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring alignment throughout an initiative.
• Coordinate and help lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT), prioritization, business readiness, and implementation activities.
• Support technology evaluation and selection when new solutions or capabilities are required.
• Maintain clear documentation and ensure stakeholders have access to the necessary information.
• Identify risks, dependencies, gaps, and cross‑functional impacts that could affect implementation.
• Provide consistent stakeholder communication and support realization/adoption tracking.
• Develop expertise in both the business process and technology to provide informed recommendations.
• Act as the quarterback across Finance, IT, project management, and other stakeholders to keep initiatives progressing.

Essential Skills

• Experience supporting or leading financial systems implementations, enhancements, or transformation projects.
• Strong finance/accounting business process knowledge and understanding of how technology supports Finance.
• Experience working between Finance/business stakeholders and IT/technical teams.
• Experience gathering and documenting business requirements, workflows, dependencies, and system impacts.
• Experience facilitating stakeholder interviews, requirements workshops, and cross‑functional discussions.
• Experience supporting UAT, business readiness, and implementation activities.
• Strong ability to take ownership and proactively drive initiatives forward across multiple teams.
• Ability to quickly learn both the business process and technology and contribute to future‑state recommendations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with Oracle EPM, BlackLine, or similar enterprise financial systems.
• Experience with real estate, tax, T&E, or indirect procurement technology.
• Background in Product Management, Product Ownership, Finance Technology, or Financial Systems.
• Experience developing user stories, acceptance criteria, and solution recommendations.
• Experience evaluating or helping select new technology solutions.
• Located within commuting distance of Richmond, VA, particularly for candidates interested in potential conversion to a full‑time role.

Work Environment Fully remote with occasional travel potentially to Richmond. Ideal candidate is in the DMV area or reasonably close to Richmond to come in for sporadic office visits.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Ruther Glen, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $105.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
