Job summary

The University of Minnesota is seeking a FP2 Financial Analyst for University Services Finance to oversee financial accuracy for UMS and Printing Services. You will interpret contract language, ensure reconciliation and policy compliance, and partner with stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and improve processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field and 2 years relevant professional experience.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets, software systems, and reporting tools.
  • Experience with general ledger applications and interpreting financial results.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, and individuals.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Accounting and Financial Support - high-level accounting functions, reconcile accounts and fund usage per policies.
  • Review GL accounts, research discrepancies and resolve issues; prepare transaction documentation for entry.
  • Maintain and update internal financial systems, reports, and processes.
  • Collaborate with operational staff on purchasing practices; train staff on UMarket, MyWallet and POs.
  • Serve as point of contact for vendors, contractors, and customers on financial inquiries.
  • Financial Reporting and Analysis - assist with non-sponsored revenue/expense and balance sheet analysis.
  • Prepare monthly operating statements; document variances and trends with Finance Analyst.
  • Support journal entries, notes for reports, and maintain internal reports for Ops.
  • Suggest process improvements and assist in implementing changes to procedures.
  • Other ad hoc reporting as assigned.
  • Annual Budgets, Month-End/Year-End Close - support budgets and reconciliations.
  • Reconcile unit systems with ERP for campus currency balances.
  • Other essential functions and department involvement.
  • Back-up support to UMS/PRT Finance team and other Auxiliary Services.
