The Lansing Board of Water & Light (BWL) is offering a Finance Intern summer position in Lansing, MI. You''ll gain hands-on experience in financial analysis, benchmarking, reporting, and business planning within a municipal public utility.

Under a mentor from the executive and finance teams, you will support rate-class analyses, cost-of-service work, and standard financial reporting, while assisting with data-driven decision making and cross-functional finance projects throughout May–August 2027.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration with junior/senior status in Summer 2027.
• Minimum GPA 3.0.
• Must be enrolled in fall 2027 classes.

Responsibilities

• Assist with financial analyses, benchmarking, and reporting.
• Support rate-class competitiveness and cost-of-service analyses.
• Prepare standard financial reports and analytics.
• Coordinate with finance staff on projects and ad-hoc requests.
