Job summary

The Town of Hillsborough is seeking a seasoned finance professional to manage accounting functions, financial reporting, budgeting, payroll and related operations. You will lead a staff, ensure GAAP compliance, oversee month‑end and year‑end closes, audits, internal controls and ERP systems, and report to the Director of Finance. A Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s or CPA/CPFO is desirable.

Able to foster teamwork and drive process improvements in a small town finance department.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• Five years of progressive accounting or auditing experience.
• Two years of supervisory experience and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, lead and control staff involved in general accounting, budgeting, payroll and related services.
• Develop goals, monitor performance and implement improvements.
• Supervise staff, conduct training and performance evaluations.
• Plan month-end and year-end closings; support audits and financial statements.
• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to agencies and management.
• Maintain internal controls and safeguard Town assets.
• Coordinate the Town budget and ERP system management.
