Job summary

AbbVie in North Chicago, IL is seeking a Finance leader to own the Global Latest Best Estimates (LBE) planning process for the Commercial Controllership Organization. You will provide financial analysis, recommendations, and decision-support to enable timely consolidations and leadership-ready summaries.

The role partners with finance, corporate, R&D, and operations, maintains planning templates, analyzes variances, and coaches a team to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 7+ years progressive accounting or finance experience.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; MBA/CPA preferred.
• Strong understanding of AbbVie financial planning processes.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with SAP and BPC; Power BI or similar data visualization.

Responsibilities

• Lead global commercial financial planning and forecasting processes, ensuring timely and accurate business inputs.
• Consolidate planning materials and deliver executive-ready financial summaries for senior stakeholders.
• Guide business units through planning cycles, including timelines, guidance, assumption validation, and result consolidation.
• Partner cross-functionally with finance, corporate, legal, R&D, operations, and global teams to align planning efforts.
• Perform financial system tie-outs to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across planning outputs.
• Maintain and improve planning templates, schedules, mock books, and supporting financial documentation.
• Analyze performance against plan, prior forecasts, prior year, and other benchmarks to identify trends and variances.
• Highlight key risks, opportunities, and business drivers to support informed management decision-making.
• Prepare clear, actionable planning materials and presentations for leadership review.
• Manage, coach, and develop finance team members while fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Job Description

The primary objective of this position is to provide financial leadership for the Global Latest Best Estimates (LBE) planning process for Commercial Controllership Organization.   • MBA or CPA preferred
• Strong understanding of AbbVie financial planning processes
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Solid understanding of automated accounting systems such SAP and BPC. Skillful with Power BI or other data visualization tools.
• Extremely proficient in Microsoft Office, primarily Excel and PowerPoint
• Ability to solve business problems through the proactive identification of issues and subsequent collection, analysis, and interpretation of related data
• Experience working independently as well as team environments and integrating activities across multiple functions / divisions
• Ability to meet tight deadlines while balancing competing priorities
• Ability to work well in a team environment and build strong relationships with cross-functional stakeholders
