Look around you today, every store, home, hospital, school, was made possible by the coordination of architects and a team of professionals. They are charged with the responsibility of creating our shelters and yet, they are left with nothing more than Excel to manage their work. We're here to change that.

What is Monograph?

Monograph is a firm performance management platform for architecture and engineering practices. Firms use Monograph to make quick and confident decisions about budgeting and resources to drive their practices forward.

Why Work at Monograph?

People first: Core to the team, we believe in people first, curiosity, and empathy. You'll be a culture ambassador and deploy your genuine value for relationships to drive success and happiness.

Build a company that will redefine architecture: Project management is just the beginning...we have big ambitions to help facilitate the entire design process from becoming the document source of truth to coordinating with consultants. You can shape the future of building design.

Work with some of the best product people in the world: We're an innovative team of highly productive individual contributors with a strong design background. You will be doing some of the best work of your life.

Help scale a high-growth SaaS company by owning finance operations, strategic forecasting, and budget management.

As Finance Manager, you will be a key business partner to the executive team, owning core finance functions and enabling the company's growth trajectory. You'll be a hands-on team of one in finance, overseeing day-to-day accounting, budgeting, financial planning, and internal controls—ensuring financial integrity while supporting strategic decision-making. You'll report to the VP of Operations and work closely with department heads across the business.

Accounting & Tax Compliance (30%)

  • Oversee daily accounting operations and maintain scalable financial processes, including A/R, A/P, and month-end close (oversee outsourced bookkeeping).
  • Create and enforce accounting policies in compliance with GAAP; ensure tax compliance across multiple states (partner with outsourced tax accounting).
  • Manage external accountants and prepare for audits and investor reporting cycles.
  • Run payroll and administer variable compensation programs (e.g., commissions).

Budgeting & Planning (30%)

  • Own annual budgeting process and manage ongoing forecasts in partnership with department leads.
  • Track budget vs. actuals and implement cadence for variance reporting with department owners.

FP&A (20%)

  • Build and maintain financial models to inform business strategy and capital planning.
  • Deliver actionable insights through analysis of financial performance, trends, and KPIs.

Strategic Finance (20%)

  • Partner with senior leadership on pricing, headcount planning, margin optimization, and cost efficiency projects.
  • Dig deep into the ROI of different programs (outbound sales, paid ads, etc.)
  • Support fundraising, board materials, and scenario planning as needed.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance; SaaS or startup experience strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP; IFRS knowledge a bonus.
  • Experience with key tools such as QuickBooks Online, Salesforce, Stripe, Justworks, and Ramp.
  • Proven ability to run payroll and administer compensation plans.
  • Strong modeling skills in Excel/Google Sheets; familiarity with financial software tools preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Comp Range: $100,000 - $150,000 depending on experience.
