The Position

You will join the Global Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team within AWS Data Center Finance. The position will contribute to driving standardization and team efficiency worldwide. You will be responsible for coordinating and liaison with the central FP&A on behalf of the regional finance teams. You will have ownership to how the organization plans and forecasts annual Opex and Capex budget on a global basis. You will be the finance expert responsible for budgeting, variance analysis, and driving key financial metrics. You will partner across finance and non-finance teams to drive forecasting, financial analysis, reporting, and key financial decisions. You will also define and maintain internal finance controls for transactions and processes. This role will also support ad-hoc analysis and reporting related to data center operations. This is a highly visible role as your outputs are included in month end packages that go to senior leadership and decision makers.

The FP&A team is responsible for managing the financial rhythms of the business, including the annual operating plan, long range plan, regular forecast process, and for providing analytical support to senior management. You will help establish the pace of the finance team to ensure it delivers actionable insights in a timely manner.

Key job responsibilities

The Responsibilities

• Partner with Data Center regional finance teams to meet finance objectives.
• Drive month end reporting and variance analysis of actual spend versus projection.
• Lead ad hoc analysis and month end financial commentary working cross functionally with regional finance, central finance, and financial systems (TM1) and accounting teams.
• Ensure compliance with finance and accounting controls and systems.
• Monitor and enhance existing processes and controls.
  
  

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
• 4+ years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses experience
• 4+ years of building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making experience
• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science)
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
• 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience
• MBA, or CPA
• Knowledge of SQL/ETL
• Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
• Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
