Global Edge Group seeks an experienced Finance Manager to lead financial oversight for large, long-duration industrial projects. This role partners with senior leaders, drives forecasting, budgeting, and profitability analysis, and mentors a small team to improve financial performance across project execution, supply chain, and staffing decisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Proven experience in finance leadership, FP&A, project finance, or financial business partnering.
  • Experience supporting large, complex, long-duration projects.
  • Strong understanding of project profitability, margin management, forecasting, budgeting, revenue recognition, cash flow, and cost management.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and developing a team.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to translate complex financial information into clear business recommendations.
  • Willingness to work onsite in Roanoke, VA and relocate if required.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted financial partner to business-unit and senior leadership.
  • Oversee the financial performance of large, long-term industrial and engineering projects from award through completion.
  • Analyze project profitability, margins, revenue timing, costs, risks, billing, and cash flow.
  • Partner with Project Managers and operational teams to identify financial risks and performance issues early.
  • Lead monthly forecasting, annual budgeting, and mid-range financial planning.
  • Translate the commercial pipeline into projected revenue, profitability, timing, and resource requirements.
  • Develop financial models, KPI dashboards, business analysis, and executive reporting.
  • Provide financial insight into project delays, supply-chain impacts, staffing requirements, and changing business conditions.
  • Partner with Commercial and Sales leadership on pipeline management, bid risk, contract economics, and revenue timing.
  • Support workforce planning and evaluate the financial impact of business growth and resource requirements.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of approximately 3–4 employees.
  • Establish priorities, assign work, monitor performance, and ensure high-quality team output.
  • Identify process improvements and strengthen financial controls, reporting, and productivity.
  • Collaborate closely with Project Management, Engineering, Commercial, HR, and Corporate Finance.
  • Present financial performance, forecasts, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join a growing industrial and engineering organization in a highly visible leadership position.

This role goes beyond traditional accounting and FP&A. You will serve as a key financial business partner to business-unit leadership, providing insight and guidance across project profitability, forecasting, financial planning, workforce planning, operational performance, and strategic decision-making.

The successful candidate will have experience working within a project-driven environment, with a strong understanding of how project execution, contract milestones, supply-chain activity, staffing, and commercial decisions impact revenue, margins, cash flow, and overall business performance.

This is also a hands-on people leadership position, managing a small team while remaining actively involved in complex financial analysis and business decisions.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Proven experience in finance leadership, FP&A, project finance, or financial business partnering.
  • Experience supporting large, complex, long-duration projects.
  • Background in one or more of the following environments preferred: EPC / Engineering, Industrial automation or systems integration, Industrial manufacturing, Power or energy, Infrastructure, Capital equipment, Engineering services, Project-based construction
  • Strong understanding of project profitability, margin management, forecasting, budgeting, revenue recognition, cash flow, and cost management.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and developing a team.
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical capabilities.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, PivotTables, and financial analysis.
  • Experience with ERP financial systems and enterprise planning/forecasting platforms.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to work effectively with executives, commercial leaders, Project Managers, engineers, and corporate functions.
  • Ability to translate complex financial information into clear business recommendations.
  • Comfortable working in an environment with changing project schedules, competing priorities, and complex business challenges.
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of how operational decisions affect financial performance.
  • Willingness to work onsite in Roanoke, Virginia and relocate if required.
