The Finance Manager will oversee bookkeeping, payroll, grant administration, and annual reporting, while supporting the CEO and Board. The position requires nonprofit accounting experience, strong QuickBooks and MS Office skills, and the ability to work with a diverse team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, accounting, or related field preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years’ bookkeeping/accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with nonprofit multi-funding accounting and federal grants preferred.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks including GL management, budgeting and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure financial responsibilities are executed in line with WCF guidelines.
  • Provide staff support to the Board of Directors as directed by the CEO.
  • Manage grants administration and ensure compliance with grant guidelines.
  • Coordinate with auditors for year-end audit and IRS 990/State filings.

Job description

Women & Children First is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Finance Manager.

This is a full-time position offering compensation equivalent to $62,000 annually, paid on an hourly basis. The position is based in Little Rock, Arkansas, and the selected candidate must reside in Central Arkansas or be willing to relocate to the area before beginning employment.

Benefits available to eligible full-time employees include:

Overall Responsibility

The Finance Manager is responsible for ensuring that Women & Children First's financial responsibilities are implemented in accordance with WCF guidelines. The Finance Manager provides staff support to the Board of Directors as directed by the CEO. This position is also responsible for grant administration and ensuring that all grant guidelines are met through compliance

Key Areas of Responsibility
Finance
  • Bookkeeping/Accounting: A/P, A/R, payroll, journal entries, bank reconciliation.
  • Makes monthly draws from all grants and makes timely deposits
  • Monitors submission of IRS reports, tax deposits, and all shelter payroll data
  • Prepares and submits financial grant reports to all funders on time
  • Coordinates with auditors on year-end audit and IRS 990/State filings.
  • Maintains files and history on all financial, payroll, and insurance records
  • Maintains all financial-related data for the shelter
Grants
  • Track and monitor current grants and grant expenditures
  • Submit monthly reimbursement claims to grant sources
  • Prepare quarterly and annual reports for grant sourcesGuide COO and program staff to ensure understanding of program standards/expenditures
  • Participate in the internal monitoring of WCF programs in regard to compliance and requirements, ensuring that they are met
Other
  • All other duties as assigned by the CEO.
Minimum Qualifications: The Finance Manager will have the following minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, accounting, or another related field strongly preferred, or equivalent work experience negotiable
  • 3-5 years’ work experience in a bookkeeping/accounting function.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Prefer experience working in nonprofit multi-funding accounting, including experience tracking and reporting data for multiple grant funders, preferably with federal grants.
  • Strong QuickBooks skills, including all normal accounting transactions, GL management, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Attention to detail, strong communication, and problem-solving are all critical skills for success in this role.

Hours: The Finance Manager position is full-time, hourly, and non-exempt. It is understood that the employee will work forty (40) hours per week with hours that may vary from the regular Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm workday. WCF employees may be asked to work on some holidays and participate in staff activities outside the Monday-Friday schedule.
