Job summary

City of Iowa City is seeking a Finance Department leader to assist in directing operational, financial, and personnel activities, with direct supervision of 3+ administrative staff. You will oversee, direct, plan, and review the work of support staff and analyze the City’s finances related to investments, budgets, and capital improvement plans.

• 1–3 years of related experience or 5–7 years with equivalent education.

• Must pass criminal background check.

Job Summary

Oversees, directs, plans, and reviews the work of support staff. Responsible for ongoing analysis and trending of City’s finances as it relates to investments, budgets, and capital improvement plans and compiles periodic and annual reports to the Finance Director. Leads and directs support staff in the preparation and review of the City’s three-year financial plan.

Minimum Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure, Other

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution and one to three years of related experience; or five to seven years of related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related. Experience in accounting, financial management, budget preparation, payroll, or treasury management. Must pass criminal background check.
