Florida Repertory Theatre, a professional nonprofit theatre company in Fort Myers, seeks a Finance Manager to secure proper accounting, reporting, and financial solvency. Celebrating its 29 th year of award-winning regional theatre in downtown Fort Myers, we are a non-profit theatre company that produces a wide variety of musical, comedies, and dramas such as Little Shop of Horrors, The Play That Goes Wrong, The Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge and Tuesdays with Morrie.

With a budget of $5 million, a staff of 60, actors and directors from NYC, many with Broadway credits, Florida Repertory Theatre brings more than 100,000 people to the Fort Myers River District annually. Florida Repertory Theatre performs in the 393-seat, 100-year-old, historic Arcade Theatre and the newly renovated 110 seat ArtStage Studio. We also operate a premier educational theatre program that reaches more than 45,000 young people annually.

Finance Manager

Job Summary

As the Finance Manager, you play the key role in securing proper accounting, reporting and overall financial solvency of one of Southwest Florida’s premier arts organizations. Finance Manager is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of all business activities, including managing the financial, financial reporting, liability, contracting, licensing, and general business assets and obligations of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly financials ahead of each monthly finance committee meeting.
• Close the books each month and report financial activity to Board of Directors.
• Prepare annual paced budget for board of directors.
• Maintain financial controls and serve as primary bank liaison for all financial matters.
• Maintain accuracy of accounting records in accrual environment administered with Quick Books Premier.
• Reconcile all bank, credit card and investment accounts monthly in preparation for monthly financial reports.
• Collect expense reports monthly from all staff; enter as by line item as needed to generate accurate financials.
• Maintain all insurance policies in good standing; including auto, property, GL and officers’ liability.
• Review business manager’s payables to ensure proper payments to all vendors.
• Act as primary accounts receivable administrator to ensure proper accounting of all receivables. Regularly audit and reconcile A/R records in QuickBooks with records generated by CRM/sales platform (Audience View).
• Generate as-requested spending reports for production, education and marketing departments. Produce financial data as requested by the development team for grant application and grant disbursements.
• Modernize accounting systems. Convert the theatre from largely paper-based processes to an electronic system; including an electronic receipt management system.
• Enforce current and implement new checks and balances in all accounting systems.
• Establish and maintain and audit credit accounts with vendors as needed or requested by staff members.
• Administer the annual financial audit. Provide all request records logs, records and any other documents requested by auditors. Act as primary liaison with auditors on all inquiries. Maintain year-round relationship with the CPA audit firm.
• Review, sign, submit and administer royalty contracts.
• Generate weekly box office reports for all productions and submit them to rights holders along with appropriate royalty payments.
• Supervise business manager, the primary AP and payroll administrator, to ensure proper payments to all staff and vendors. Verify and double check payments.
• Responsible for the supervision and management of all financial accounts. Manage bank accounts and cash flow to ensure that each account has enough to pay appropriate bills; including credit cards, bank accounts, credit lines and investment accounts.
• Provide guidance and troubleshoot financial questions.
• Maintain knowledge of current financial and industry practices.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years bookkeeping experience.
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles. Non-profit accounting preferred but not required.
• Experience in preparation of monthly financials.
• Experience with QuickBooks is highly desirable.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to work on a variety of projects simultaneously is essential and attention to detail is required.
• Bachelor’s Degree required. CPA not required, but desirable.

Hours/Compensation

40+ hours/week, including performances and special events on evenings and weekends.
