Spot On Talent is assisting a fast-growing Dallas law firm in hiring a Director of Accounting and Finance who will own the numbers and shape the firm's financial future. This hands-on role reports to the Executive Director and has no direct reports, with responsibilities closing books and producing weekly reports.

The successful candidate will drive performance metrics, partner with tax advisors, support budgeting and forecasting, and ensure strong internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred.
• Five or more years of progressive accounting experience in public accounting, a law firm, or another professional services firm.
• Working knowledge of partnership accounting and tax, GAAP and cash-basis accounting.
• Advanced Excel skills; experience with Centerbase, Aderant or Elite is a plus.
• Quick learner with the intellect to master law firm economics.
• Independent judgment and the confidence to push back.
• Accuracy and attention to detail in hands-on technical work.
• Clear communication with attorneys and discretion with partner compensation.

Responsabilités

• Close the books monthly, quarterly and annually, including reconciliations and account analysis
• Build equity partner scorecards and recommend the right metrics for partner, practice group and firm performance
• Produce accurate weekly and monthly reports on financial results, cash, hours, collections and profitability
• Calculate partner draws, distributions and capital accounts under the partnership agreement
• Flag tax and financial consequences of firm decisions early, and coordinate with outside tax advisors and auditors
• Support budgeting, forecasting and scenario modeling for firm leadership
• Maintain trust (IOLTA) accounting and strong internal controls
