Job summary

NBC Sports Bay Area & California is seeking a Finance Intern for Summer 2027 to support monthly reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and analyses. You will collaborate with the Regional Finance team and other departments to deliver insights that drive decision-making in a fast-paced media environment.

You will gain hands-on experience with Excel on large datasets, participate in closing activities, and contribute to ad hoc projects while being actively enrolled in a degree program.

Qualifications

• Coursework or demonstrated interest in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively with others.
• Must be actively enrolled in a degree‑granting program during the entire duration (June-August).
• Must be presently authorized to work in the United States.
• Must be available to work 16-24 hours per week from June 7, 2027 – August 13, 2027.
• Must be willing to work in San Francisco, California.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Senior Manager of Finance and the Regional Finance team with the preparation and maintenance of monthly financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting.
• Perform variance analyses of actual financial results against estimates and help identify key drivers of variances.
• Assist with monthly and quarterly closing processes (e.g. calculate required accruals, post journal entries, and ensure all expenses are captured and stated properly).
• Partner with the Finance team to prepare and provide ad hoc financial analyses and special projects.
• Work with large datasets in Excel to organize, analyze, and summarize financial information.
• Help maintain accurate and timely financial information and reporting.
• Gain exposure to the financial operations of a regional sports media business and how Finance partners with departments across the organization.
