Job summary

First Student is seeking an accounting-oriented candidate to support the general ledger and financial reporting. The role involves preparing and reviewing journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and assisting with process improvements in a fast-paced environment.

Applicants should be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Accounting and demonstrate knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS Codification, with proficiency in MS Office and accounting software. English proficiency is required.

Job description

Prepares basic financial reports under direct supervision. Assists in the day-to-day maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Prepares, reviews, and adjusts journal entries
  • Performs reconciliations of balance sheet accounts
  • Participates in Department Efficiency Teams including re-engineering and automation of accounting processes
  • Perform analytics on financial information with objective of ensuring information quality
  • Reports the company’s finances to management, offering suggestions about resource utilization, tax strategies, and assumptions underlying budget forecasts.
  • Maintenance of fixed assets - property additions and disposals; personal, real estate and right of use assets
Experience & Requirements
  • Candidates should be in process of earning Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting
  • Familiarity with US GAAP and IFRS Codification
  • Experience with MS Office products and accounting software preferred.
  • Action oriented, good time management, listening, integrity
