Basis is seeking a Finance Generalist to understand our business, support leadership in decision-making, and build operating systems to help us scale rapidly. This role will touch finance, revenue operations, go-to-market, and our product and engineering teams.

This role reports to the Head of Finance. This is a broad, high-ownership position where you will develop key financial models, report performance, evaluate pricing or investments, and stand up automations to improve efficiency.

Qualifications

• 4-8 years of experience in analytical finance roles, with in-house or startup exposure.
• Strong financial modeling and ability to translate data into strategic insights.
• Builder mentality: create systems, automate repetitive tasks, improve processes.

What You'll Be Doing

Basis is looking for a Finance Generalist to understand our business, support leadership in making better decisions, and building the operating systems to help us scale rapidly. This role will touch almost every function at the company - you'll work across finance, revenue operations, go-to-market, and our product and engineering teams. This role reports to the Head of Finance.

This is a broad, high-ownership role. You'll own key financial models, report on the performance of our business and financials, evaluate pricing or new investments, and stand up new automations to make the finance team more efficient. You'll go wherever the highest-leverage questions are and turn ambiguous problems into clear analysis and action.

We expect our finance function to be AI-native. You'll use AI and automation as core tools-building models, dashboards, workflows, and lightweight systems that increase the speed and quality of our decisions.

Location: NYC, Flatiron office. In-person team, five days a week.

What You'll Bring

• 4-8 years of experience, ideally beginning in investment banking or another analytically rigorous environment and followed by an in-house role in strategic finance, revenue operations, or a similar function at a high-growth B2B software, fintech, AI, or technology company.
• Exceptional financial modeling and analytical skills, with the ability to connect detailed work to a clear strategic point of view.
• A builder's mindset: you create systems from scratch, automate repetitive work, and improve how teams operate rather than simply maintaining existing processes.
• An AI-native working style and a track record of using AI and modern tools to work faster, go deeper, and increase your own leverage.
• Strong business judgment, including the ability to identify which questions matter most and balance rigor with speed.
• Excellent communication skills and the confidence to turn complex analysis into clear recommendations for company leadership.

What We'd Love to See

• GTM Fluency: Experience with SaaS metrics, pipeline and capacity planning, pricing, commissions, or usage-based business models.
• Data Fluency: Comfort working directly with large or messy datasets using SQL, BI tools, or lightweight scripting.
• Strategic Planning: Experience owning planning for a business unit or organization and surfacing the key strategic questions and investment priorities for business leaders.
