Job summary

West Edge Opera seeks a Finance Director to guide budgeting, reporting, payroll, and compliance for a growing nonprofit opera company.

You will produce income/expense statements, manage grants, monitor cash, and ensure internal controls while providing practical analysis to the Board.

This part-time role (50-75%) is based in the SF Bay Area with summer festival onsite in Oakland and remote work otherwise.

Qualifications

• Very strong Excel skills (pivot tables, vlookups, charting, advanced formatting).
• Knowledge of general accounting principles and hands-on experience with reporting and operations; non-profit accounting knowledge/experience preferred.
• Hands-on experience with zero-based budgeting.
• General knowledge of QuickBooks data structure and functions strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements: Income/Expense and Balance Sheet.
• Develop and track measurements of key activities such as ticket sales, donations, and expenses vs. budget by program.
• Provide supporting analysis of reports for practical decisions.
