Job summary

Aspen Group, Inc. (AGI) is seeking an experienced Director of Finance to join our team near the PHX area.

The role reports to the Chief Accounting Officer and serves as the financial representative of the university, with direct access to boards and committees. You will lead budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and management reporting in a publicly traded higher-education environment, partnering with accounting and academic teams to drive data-driven decisions and improve forecasting

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
• MBA or CPA preferred.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
• Higher Education experience strongly preferred.
• Experience managing operations, financial aid, and student accounts teams.
• Solid knowledge of GAAP.
• Experience with financial planning and analysis software.
• Experience in publicly traded financial reporting, audits, controls and governance is a plus.
• Advanced MS Office skills: Excel, PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Support budgeting and monthly forecasting for enrollment-driven revenue.
• Support monthly financial reporting with variance analyses and reconciliations.
• Assist in building annual budgets and long-range planning models.
• Produce KPI reports tracking enrollment, revenue per student, retention, and operating performance.
• Validate data across departments to ensure reporting accuracy.
• Improve reporting efficiency with standardized templates and automation.
• Prepare monthly reporting packages with variance explanations for senior management.
• Assist with enrollment and tuition revenue modeling and pricing changes.
• Analyze trends, risks, and opportunities affecting performance.
• Collaborate with accounting and academic teams for forecast accuracy.
• Support quarterly closes and external reporting with schedules for filings.
• Assist with earnings releases and executive-level decks.
