Windham Brannon is seeking experienced Finance Directors for interim leadership and advisory engagements across diverse industries. Engage on a project basis with flexible allocations and quarterly milestones, aligning with your expertise and availability.

As an independent contractor (1099), you control your schedule, select engagements, and collaborate with Windham Brannon to scope, contract, and bill. Roles include Interim CFO, Controller, and Financial Reporting Manager with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including public accounting.
• Experience in finance leadership roles such as CFO, Controller, SEC Reporting Manager, Internal Audit Manager.
• Strategic accounting and operations mindset with hands-on project execution.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field; CPA preferred.
• Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks Online).
• Excellent verbal and written communication; able to manage multiple client engagements and travel.
• Willingness to travel to client sites outside home market.

The Opportunity

Windham Brannon is building a network of experienced Finance Directors to provide clients with interim leadership, specialized expertise, and strategic accounting and finance support when additional resources or leadership capacity are needed.

How the Arrangement Works

This is an independent contractor (1099) opportunity and not a Windham Brannon employee position. Windham Brannon manages business development, client relationships, engagement scoping, and billing. Compensation is based on mutually agreed-upon hourly rates or project fees established prior to the start of each engagement, and contractors retain the flexibility to accept engagements that align with their availability and interests.

What You Will Do

• Serve as a high-level interim or project-based accounting and finance resource for clients across a variety of industries.
• Step into leadership roles including Interim CFO, Controller, Accounting Manager, Financial Reporting Manager, or Internal Audit Manager as engagement needs require.
• Design, implement, and improve accounting processes related to monthly close, financial reporting, forecasting, consolidations, and system implementations.
• Lead and execute special projects, including accounting clean-up, account reconciliations, cash-to-accrual conversions, audit readiness, and transition accounting initiatives.
• Take a hands-on approach to client engagements, balancing strategic leadership with detailed project execution.
• Build strong client relationships while delivering practical solutions to complex business and accounting challenges.
• Travel to client locations as engagement needs require.
• Select engagements that align with your expertise, interests, and availability.

What You Bring

• 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including public accounting experience.
• Experience serving in finance leadership roles such as CFO, Controller, SEC Reporting Manager, Internal Audit Manager, or similar positions preferred.
• Brings a strategic accounting, finance, and operations mindset, paired with a hands-on approach and genuine willingness to work through the granular details of a project from start to finish.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field required.
• CPA certification preferred.
• Strong project management and client service skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with a variety of accounting and financial systems.
• Experience with QuickBooks Online preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to adapt quickly to new client environments and business challenges.
• Willingness to travel to client sites outside of your home market.
