Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or another quantitative field.
• Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or another quantitative field.
• Minimum 2 years of data science or statistics-related work experience.
• Proficiency with Snowflake, Teradata, or Oracle and SQL querying.
• Proficiency in Python or R and experience with structured and unstructured data.
• Experience with machine learning techniques including classification, clustering, dimension reduction, regression, NLP, and time series modeling.
• Experience with experimental design, outlier detection methods, and statistical hypothesis testing.
• Experience with data visualization techniques and tools.
• Ability to translate work into presentations suitable for non-technical audiences.
• Proven collaboration with business partners and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business partners to define problems and translate them into technical solutions using machine learning frameworks.
• Perform exploratory data analysis and leverage deep business knowledge of customers and marketplace data to uncover new insights.
• Work with high-volume, high-dimensional data from multiple sources, visualize patterns and anomalies, and perform feature engineering and selection.
• Design and run experiments, collect data for statistical hypothesis testing, and derive inferences and recommendations.
• Develop scalable, automated processes to support large-scale data analyses, model development, validation, and deployment.
• Apply techniques such as classification, clustering, dimension reduction, regression, NLP, deep learning, and time series forecasting to address varied business problems.
• Prepare and present materials that effectively communicate analytical results and recommendations to audiences.
• Build expertise on Grainger's business operations, go-to-market model, and the broader MRO market.
