Job summary

AssemblyAI, Inc. is seeking a Finance Engineer to build data pipelines, dashboards, and automation around the finance function and revenue operations. You will operate finance with a lean, systems-driven approach and own unit economics, cost-to-serve, and margin models.

The role requires strong Python skills, data engineering fundamentals, and experience with ERP APIs. You will collaborate with VP Finance, Controller, and engineering leadership to accelerate decision-making and scale the finance

Qualifications

• Strong data engineering fundamentals and orchestration tools (dbt, Airflow).
• Experience with financial or operational data modeling (revenue, cost, margins).
• Ability to build dashboards and internal tools used by non-engineers.
• Proven track record building automation and tooling that reduces manual work.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with VP Finance, Controller, and engineering leads.

Responsibilities

• Own unit economics models by product, customer, and workload.
• Own budgeting for the technology org: cloud and GPU/TPU spend attribution.
• Build and run dashboards — single source of truth for burn, runway, margin, KPIs.
• Automate budget-vs-actuals with live departmental views and alerts.
• Develop deal desk framework with automated pricing guardrails and quotes.
• Automate sales compensation pipelines using CRM and billing data.
• Design and ship finance agents and internal tools to summarize data for non-engineers.
• Build and maintain the finance data layer from billing, payroll, cloud, and accounting systems.
