Job summary

Fortress Bank is seeking a Controller to lead the accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and regulatory compliance. The role reports to the CFO and oversees the month-end and year-end close, budgeting, and financial analysis to inform strategic decisions and growth plans.

The position is in-office and market-based, with responsibilities across GAAP compliance, FDIC reporting, and coordination with auditors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• CPA preferred not mandatory but advantageous.
• Experience with external auditors and regulatory examiners.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting controls.

Responsibilities

• Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations and related processes.
• Manage month-end and year-end close including journal entries and allocations.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports per GAAP.
• Assist CFO with annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Coordinate FDIC Call Report preparation and regulatory reporting workflows.
• Serve as primary liaison with external auditors and regulatory examiners.
