Job summary

Orion Group is seeking a Controller to lead the Accounting Department and help establish proper accounting procedures to support financial reporting objectives. The role emphasizes oversight of personnel, policy development, and ensuring timely close processes.

You will participate in quarterly managers meetings, improve internal controls, and coordinate cost tracking, asset management, and inventory reconciliation to provide reliable monthly reporting to leadership.

Qualifications

• Requires strong accounting leadership and the ability to manage a department.
• Ability to establish and maintain internal controls and procedures.
• Experience in financial reporting and month-end close processes.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the operations and personnel of the accounting department.
• Set up recurring touch points to meet with each accounting member (monthly or quarterly).
• Participate in Quarterly Managers Meetings.
• Maintain and improve accounting policies and procedures.
• Document and store accounting processes; ensure accurate day-to-day accounting functions.
• Meet the financial close deadline (currently a 5 day close).
• Prepare and reconcile monthly journal entries and various accounts.
• Manage Work in Process reporting and cost tracking.
• Track fixed assets, depreciation, and vehicle leases.
• Coordinate inventory counts and general ledger reconciliations.
• Produce monthly gross margin analysis for leadership.
