Job summary

Orionplacement is seeking a Finance Controller to join our Woodbury office. The role leads the monthly close, strengthens controls, and drives project profitability reporting in a fast-paced construction environment.

You will own WIP schedules, revenue recognition, and budgeting while partnering with operations to enhance financial visibility across active projects. This is a hands-on leadership position with visibility to executives and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 4+ years of Finance Controller or Financial Controlling experience.
  • 4+ years of construction accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP schedules, percentage of completion accounting, and project revenue recognition.
  • Experience with QuickBooks.
  • Payroll processing experience including ADP, 401(k), W-2, W-3, and 1099 reporting.
  • Knowledge of state sales tax compliance.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience supporting financial audits.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting.
  • Oversee WIP schedules, deferred revenue, and project accounting.
  • Ensure accurate job costing and project profitability reporting.
  • Partner with operations to improve financial visibility across active projects.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting.
  • Support cash management, billing, collections, and financial analysis.
  • Maintain compliance with accounting standards and internal policies.
  • Support audits and year-end financial reporting.
  • Utilize QuickBooks, Excel, and financial reporting tools to improve efficiency.
  • Serve as a trusted financial advisor to leadership.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
