Finance Associate, Foundation
We are looking for a Finance Associate specializing in Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) to join our team based in Stamford, CT. You will report to the Director of Finance and Operations of the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation and the Amazin’ Mets Foundation. Your role will support financial planning, analysis, and reporting functions to advance the organizations' missions and philanthropic visions. You will work closely with a collaborative, dynamic team in a growth-oriented, fast-paced environment.
About the Foundations and Team
The Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation is dedicated to inspiring philanthropy and community service through grants supporting nonprofit organizations in the U.S. that help those in need or address complex issues. Since 2001, the Cohens have donated over $1.2 billion to various causes including healthcare, education, arts, environment, and disease research. The Foundation collaborates closely with Point72’s Inclusion and Community team and the Amazin’ Mets Foundation, offering a unique opportunity to work across multiple organizations in a highly collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
Budgeting
• Support annual budget preparation, analyzing historical data and future forecasts
• Assist in preparing departmental and program budgets
• Help load budgets into Workday
• Track spending and prepare budget-to-actual reports
Analysis
• Conduct financial and data analysis to support decision-making
• Collaborate with program teams on financial analysis, data visualization, and report building
• Review grantee budgets and financial statements as needed
Reporting
• Prepare internal reports on budget to actuals, cash flow, and grant spending
• Support external reports such as the Foundation’s annual report, audit, and IRS filings
• Collaborate on building reports in Workday, Salesforce, and other systems
Other
• Act as a resource for non-finance team members on financial topics
• Support process improvements and automation efforts
• Participate in finance projects and system implementations
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree
• 3+ years of financial analysis and reporting experience in a non-profit
• Knowledge of budgeting, grants, financial analysis, and data visualization
• Advanced Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, formatting)
• Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Familiarity with data analysis tools and databases
• Excellent organizational and relationship management skills
• Self-motivated and proactive
• Proficient in Microsoft Office 365
• Commitment to high ethical standards
