Job summary

NextEra Energy Marketing, LLC is seeking a finance professional to reconcile energy settlements, provide accounting support, and ensure SOX compliance. The role covers month-end close, invoicing, and process improvements across NEM trading and finance teams.

You will coordinate with internal groups and counterparties to resolve discrepancies, support timely payments, and maintain robust documentation in a fast-paced corporate environment.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile and settle third-party energy purchases and sales, monthly commissions and clearinghouse activity, including settlement invoices.
• Provide settlement and accounting support to NEM trading, NEER Business Management and other Finance teams.
• Coordinate with internal teams and counterparties to investigate discrepancies and support timely payments.
• Analyze, reconcile and report clearinghouse activity and ISO power transactions.
• Research discrepancies and coordinate resolution with counterparties and clearinghouse staff.
• Review data for physical and financial products with front office to resolve issues.
• Prepare non-standard invoices not handled by MXDC.
• Review AR/AP before month-end and follow up on outstanding items.
• Assist with month-end close, reviewing estimates and actuals for financial instruments.
• Review prepayments and deferred revenue for proper month-month recognition.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation for settlement activities.
• Perform SOX-compliant settlement activities and verify postings.
• Identify and report compliance issues and data discrepancies.
• Provide timely audit support and documentation.
• Assist with system/process improvements and UAT for settlements.
• Facilitate ETA task transitions to MXDC with training and guidance.
• Support additional projects and other duties as assigned by the manager.
• Identify, analyze and communicate financial impact to management using forecasting models.
• Provide financial analysis for projects, including revenue requirements and NPV.
• Offer financial training and expertise to departments as needed.
• Perform analyses for regulatory or management needs.
• Prepare PowerPoint briefings for Senior/Executive Management.
• Perform other job-related duties as required.
