Job description

The Finance & Accounting Analyst will play a critical role in supporting the financial performance and strategic growth of the company’s global licensing platform. This individual will be responsible for day-to-day accounting, analyzing royalty streams, supporting forecasting and budgeting processes, and providing data-driven insights to optimize category and regional performance.

This role sits at the intersection of accounting, finance, and licensing, requiring both strong analytical rigor and a commercial understanding of licensing structures, distribution models, and brand monetization.

Financial Accounting and Reporting
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of all accounting records.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packages for leadership and investors
  • Perform month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, and balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist with annual reviews, tax preparation, and compliance requirements.
Licensing & Royalty Analytics
  • Track, reconcile, and analyze royalty income, minimum guarantees (MGs), advances, and earn-outs across all licensing partners.
  • Monitor licensee performance vs. contractual obligations (sell-through, reporting accuracy, payment timing)
  • Build and maintain royalty reporting models across categories and regions
  • Identify revenue leakage, underreporting risks, and optimization opportunities
  • Support financial analysis of new licensing deals, including:
  • Royalty rate structures
  • Territory and category expansion opportunities
  • Build pro forma models to assess deal profitability and long-term value creation
  • Partner with business development and legal teams to evaluate commercial terms and financial impact
Forecasting & Budgeting
  • Develop and manage revenue forecasts across licensing streams
  • Support annual budgeting and long-range planning (LRP) processes
  • Analyze variances between actuals vs. forecast and provide actionable insights
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Licensing, Business Development, Legal, and Operations teams
  • Support contract interpretation related to financial terms (royalties, deductions, net sales definitions)
  • Assist in audits of licensees and distributors, where applicable
Experience & Qualifications
Required
  • 5-8years of experience in:
  • Accounting (public or private), financial analysis, FP&A, transaction advisory, or a combination of some or all of the above
  • Experience within licensing, consumer brands, retail, or wholesale
  • Strong financial modeling and Excel skills (advanced)
  • Understanding of revenue recognition, P&L drivers, and forecasting methodologies
  • Experience working with multi-entity or global business structures
Preferred
  • Exposure to licensing agreements (royalties, MGs, net sales definitions, distributor models)
  • Experience working with general ledger software
  • Experience analyzing DTC, wholesale, and licensing revenue streams
  • Familiarity with contract terms impacting financial outcomes
