Job summary

The Chronicle of Higher Education, Inc. is seeking a Finance and Administration Analyst to support the Vice President for Finance and Administration by managing financial processes, analysis, reporting, and budgeting.

The role involves leading special projects and providing timely dashboards and insights to drive strategic planning and decision-making across the VPFA division. Collaboration with procurement and university units is essential to improve efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field.
  • 1+ years of experience in financial analysis or budgeting.
  • Preferred: degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.

Responsibilities

  • Manage approvals for expense reports and invoices within the VPFA Office.
  • Review and process purchase requisitions for the VPFA.
  • Prepare financial reports, dashboards, and performance metrics for decision-making.
  • Assist with budget development ensuring alignment with goals and strategies.
  • Perform financial analysis of golf course operations including revenue trends and profitability forecasting.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, controls, regulations, and external agencies.
  • Support training and best practices development and periodic reviews.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to resolve issues.
  • Lead and manage projects assigned by the VPFA focusing on efficiency, cost savings, and process improvements.
  • Provide timelines and status updates for VPFA-assigned projects.
  • Assist in audits and compliance reviews as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Description

The Finance and Administration Analyst will play a critical role insupporting the Vice President for Finance and Administration (VPFA)Office by managing financial processes, approvals, and projects.The role involves financial analysis, reporting, and budgeting. Theincumbent will also lead special projects as prioritized by theVPFA, contributing to strategic financial planning anddecision-making.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage and process approvals for expense reports and invoiceswithin the VPFA Office.
  • Review and process purchase requisitions on behalf of theVPFA.
  • Prepare financial reports, dashboards, and performance metrics toaid in decision-making throughout the VPFA division.
  • Assist with the development of budgets, ensuring alignment withorganizational goals and strategies.
  • Perform in-depth financial analysis of golf course operations,including revenue trends, cost control, budget analysis, dailytransactions and expenses, general reporting and profitabilityforecasting.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, financial controls, regulationsand external agencies.
  • Assist division departments with development for training andbest practices and perform periodic reviews.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to resolve any issues ordiscrepancies.
  • Work with departments within VPFA division to update and createinternal policies and procedures which may require collaborationwith other university units.
  • Lead and manage projects as assigned by the VPFA, focusing onoperational efficiency, cost savings, and processimprovements.
  • Provide timelines and status updates to projects that areassigned by VPFA.
  • Assist in audits and compliance reviews as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in any field.
  • 1+ years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, orrelated role.

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
