Job summary

MPI is seeking a senior finance professional to scale a growing finance function within a fast-moving startup bank in Stamford, CT. You will lead month-end closes, ensure accurate reporting, and partner with Treasury, Risk, andCompliance to strengthen controls under US GAAP.

Ideal candidates have 5–10 years in accounting or controllership, CPA or equivalent, and experience with regulated environments, audits, and finance transformation.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years in accounting, financial controls, controllership, or related areas.
• CPA or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP, financial reporting, reconciliations, and internal controls.
• Experience supporting audits in regulated environments.
• Background in banking, fintech, payments, or asset management preferred.
• Experience partnering with Treasury on balance-sheet activities is advantageous.
• Exposure to process improvement and finance system implementations.
• Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
• Prepare and review management accounts, financial statements, and analyses.
• Own balance sheet reconciliations and controls.
• Support external audits, statutory reporting, and regulatory readiness.
• Partner with Treasury, Operations, Risk, Compliance, and business stakeholders.
• Maintain accounting policies and internal controls per US GAAP.
• Drive process improvements and automate reporting.
• Support finance systems enhancements and data initiatives.
• Assist with new product launches and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate across a matrix environment to solve problems.
• Contribute to scalable finance and treasury function.
• Take ownership of ad hoc projects and future operating model.
