Job summary

SpartanNash is offering a paid 12-week internship in Michigan for students pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance. You will gain hands-on experience in general accounting, financial planning, and related areas, with mentorship, shadowing, and professional development opportunities.

The program runs May–August, includes training on Oracle Fusion, Excel, and Smartview, and provides exposure to cross-functional partners across the organization.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Currently in good academic standing with a preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Sophomore, junior, or senior standing at the time of the internship.
• Major in Accounting or Finance related programs.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Support areas including General Accounting, Gross Profits, Retail Accounting Financial Planning, Financial Services, Tax, and Financial Services.
• Assist in daily operations and administrative tasks within the assigned department.
• Support the preparation of presentations, reports, and other documentation.
• Collaborate with team members to improve processes and enhance efficiency.
• Attend meetings, take notes, and contribute ideas and insights.
• Gain exposure to department tools and methodologies; develop professional relationships.
• Complete special projects and an end-of-internship presentation.

• Aid in further enhancing department tools, templates and methodologies

• Gain exposure and knowledge on department functionalities

• Develop positive professional relationships across departments

• Complete special projects as assigned by your manager

• Complete an end-of-internship presentation to showcase the completion of learning objectives

• Utilize and receive training on current technologies used including Oracle Fusion, Excel, and Smartview

• Work with a variety of business partners including transportation, operations, IT, procurement, HR etc. that interact with your designated area of Finance

• Gain vital experience in professional development within a corporate setting

We’re searching for interns that are:

• Are currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program from an accredited college or university

• In good academic standing, with a preferred minimum GPA of 3.0

• Sophomore, Junior or Senior standing at the time of the internship

• Currently majoring in Accounting or Finance related programs

• Proficient with Microsoft 365 suite of products preferred

• Have a proficiency in Microsoft Excel

• Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

• Able to think outside of the box and solve problems

• Able to work both independently and collaboratively

• Are organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities

• Bring curiosity, initiative and willingness to learn and contribute
