Job summary

Freddie Mac’s Finance Division is seeking curious Accounting & Finance Interns to gain hands-on experience in accounting, finance, business analysis, and the mortgage industry. May 2027 start; McLean, VA location; interns are paid at a fixed hourly rate.

This internship provides exposure to closing the books, GAAP financial statements, and data-driven reporting, with guidance from experienced colleagues to develop professional skills and contribute to the Finance Division’s objectives.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Current junior in college or rising senior at the time of the internship.
• Availability to begin the internship in May 2027.
• Graduation date of December 2027 or May 2028.
• Strong quantitative, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills.
• Must be a great teammate and able to work collaboratively.
• Self-driven, curious, eager to learn, and committed to contributing to the Finance Division.

Responsibilities

• Support accounting activities related to “closing the books” and producing accurate GAAP financial statements.
• Develop your business understanding by reporting on and analyzing data.
• Assist in preparing unbiased financial reports on business performance for internal management.
• Gain an understanding of specialized areas of the Finance Division and related areas of the company.
• Contribute to projects that help solve business problems with guidance from experienced team members.
• Collaborate with colleagues to execute projects, share knowledge, and build relationships.
