Job summary

University of California, Merced seeks a Director to lead Financial Operations within the Division of Finance and Administration. You will guide general ledger activities, grants, endowments, capital projects, fixed assets, and payroll feeds using Oracle ERP and related tools.

You will develop policies, supervise staff, and drive strategic financial planning in a large, complex university setting. Hybrid work arrangement and strong governance are integral to the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in a related area.
• Advanced degree from an accredited university in a related area.
• Five years of directly related, progressively responsible experience, or nine years of equivalent experience/training. An advanced degree in a related area may substitute for one year of experience.
• Professional certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, direction, and expertise to subordinates to achieve goals in accordance with established policies as well as decentralized financial activities.
• Meets all government reporting requirements for relevant financial activities and manages financial reporting.
• Oversees month-end and annual close of the general ledger and maintains financial statements.
• Manages staffing, budgets, costs, productivity, and personnel activities of the department.
• Develops and enforces policies and drives improvements in internal controls and financial processes.
• Coordinates campus-wide financial close processes and supports audits.
