Talbert, Bright & Ellington, LLC. (TBE) is a full-service aviation engineering firm based in Charlotte, NC. We are seeking an experienced Director of Finance & Accounting to lead the accounting function, drive GAAP compliance, and partner with the President to support growth across the South Region and acquisitions.

The role reports to the President, manages a 3–10 person finance team, and requires strong communication, strategic planning, and hands-on experience with FP&A, budgeting, and audits.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressively responsible experience managing financial operations in a corporate setting.
• 3+ years in a Controller role overseeing accounting functions and financial reporting.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP; public accounting experience preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership with building and developing a high-performing team.
• Experience supporting financial and FAR audits; familiarity with contracts in AEC.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day accounting department operations and provide strategic direction.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and FP&A.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and strong internal controls.
• Prepare financial statements, reports, and analyses for management and auditors.
• Partner with president and leaders to align financial strategy with growth.
• Manage GL, AP, AR, payroll and vendor relationships.
